  • PlayStation Vita delayed outside JapanAugust 4, 2011 by AusirSony's Kaz Hirai has announced that while Sony's new mobile platform, PlayStation Vita, will be released in Japan by the end of the year, it won't make it for the holiday season in Europe and the United States, but will instead be released early next year. A bummer to all who expected to find the PSP's successor under a Christmas tree.
Hirai also said that despite the poor sales and price cut of the competing Nintendo 3DS, PSP Vita will retain the planned $250 price for the Wi-Fi version and $300 for the 3G version. He stated:
"There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else who happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price"Sure, Sony is a Japanese company, but given their internati…

  • 0Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for the Wii announcedAugust 3, 2011 by AusirUnlike the first Modern Warfare, which eventually made it to the Nintendo platform as the "Reflex Edition", Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was never ported to the Wii. However, given that Call of Duty: Black Ops was released on the Wii simultaneously with the PC, PS3 and 360 versions, it's no surprising that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will also follow suit, as has just been announced by Activision.
The game is coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on November 8. It's not known yet whether the Wii release will be simultaneous with the other three, but it will definitely be released this fall.
No further information about the Wii version is known for now, but we'll definitely keep you posted!

  • 0Call of Duty: Black Ops - Resurrection DLC announcedAugust 3, 2011 by AusirA brand new add-on titled Resurrection for Call of Duty: Black Ops has been mentioned in an Activision earnings release. No specific release date has been announced yet, but it's to be released either in August or in September. Like the game itself, it's going to be eventually available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
By the way, did you notice that the initial letters of all DLC so far (First Strike, Escalation, Annihilation, and Resurrection) spell out "FEAR"?

Yesterday, Rock Hippo Productions Ltd. announced that they were to add 2 action games, MicroVolts andBrawl Busters. Both look good, and will be made funner by the large amount of community members to play with. Microvolts is a third person shooter; happening right in our backyards. Braw Busters is, as the name would suggest, a brawling game.

  • 0RAGE Struts its Personality in Latest Dev VideoJuly 28, 2011 by Noahtomlinid Software's newest IP, Rage, is all about enemies with personality. At least, that's what is emphasized in this newest developer diary from the granddaddy of FPS developers.

I'd recommend giving this a view, even if you're not a fan of first-person shooters, because it shows just how much dedication and thought goes into enemy design, something which most gamers (myself included) seem to take for granted.

  • 0Nintendo Loses a Lot of Money, But There's a Lot More Where That Came FromJuly 28, 2011 by NoahtomlinNow, now, children, let's not fret about like chickens with their heads cut off. Nintendo may have posted a huge second-quarter loss this year, but that doesn't mean the company is doomed just yet. These are the creators of the money-printing DS and Wii, after all.

After announcing an $80 price cut for the 3DS, Nintendo said they lost close to ¥25.5 billion (a little under $322 million USD) in the second quarter of 2011. That's a lot of money, enough to make most companies quake in their diamond-covered boots, but for a company as huge and recently profitable as the House of Mario, it is merely a decent setback. With some long-promised 3DS titles as well some new Zelda game coming out the second half of the year, things are still looking up…

  • 0Shetland Islands Resident Arrested for Serving as Lulzsec SpokespersonJuly 28, 2011 by NoahtomlinThe Shetland Islands are pretty much the middle of nowhere, as desolate and remote as you can be while still being in Europe, let alone Great Britain. They also have no Internet.

Yet somehow, New Scotland Yard arrested a Shetlander who served as "spokesperson" for Lulzsec, the grey-hat hacking group known for ticking off pretty much everyone on the planet.

It's unknown how "Topiary" (his real name: Jake Davis), a 18-year-old kid, managed to be a spokesperson for an Internet-based vigilante group while living on an island with no Internet. We're sure Scotland Yard will release more details soon.
